A Little Life destroyed me. Ugly sobbing in public, snot bubbling and shame free. And I cannot recommend it more. Stoked to add several of your recs to my list for this year -- love me a good fat paperback.
Bright Young Women and Cleopatra and Frankenstein are two of my favourite books EVER. I’ve added so many of these to my TBR, I feel like I immediately trust your taste!
I recently read Yellowface for the first time and LOVED. would absolutely recommend if you haven’t already, and Blue Sisters is also up there with my faves 🤍
I LOVED Yellowface. That was by far my favourite book of 2023, I flew through it in a weekend because I physically couldn’t put it down. Seeing as we are literally book soul sisters, please send me more of your recommendations because I trust YOUR taste too!
I’ve not read any of these books, so you bet my TBR is filling up with these recommendations. I’m also really shocked about the Paris Hilton DNF. I’d heard it was quite good?! 💖
Excellent, thank you. Sounds like we line (and disliked) similar books. I’ve just added fresh water for flowers and the hearts invisible furies to my list. Have you read The Blue Sisters yet? Loved it, also by Coco Mellars
i LOVE that you're open about hating certain books! a lot of times i feel a bit pressured to like a book when the general public likes it or maybe that i just didn't understand the book correctly! staying here for future good references too :) <3
Sorrow and Bliss - Meg Mason and Maggie O’Farrell - The Marriage Portrait - both excellent. Also very much enjoying Naomi Alderman - The Future at the moment
I think it really depends on where you are in your life. I know it has resonated with so many women all over the world (I’m part of a huge Substack group chat about it).

Absolutely destroyed me too. WHAT a book! 👏🏻
It was an intense book...but I did really like it. The highs were worth the lows. Just.

Came for the “general f*ckery” but staying for the book recommendations- thank you!! On my library app now… well, after the kids roll out. XO
Cleopatra and Frankenstein was sooo good! Now I’m going to read Fresh Water for Flowers!
Ahhh lemme know what you think of it! I hope you love it as much as I did.

A Little Life is one of the hardest and also best books I’ve ever read x
The perfect summation of this book!
Sorrow and Bliss - Meg Mason and Maggie O’Farrell - The Marriage Portrait - both excellent. Also very much enjoying Naomi Alderman - The Future at the moment
Yes, LOVE both of these books. I’ve not read The Future—adding that to my list, thank you! 😙
72 books in a year is a great achievement I average about 25. Thanks for the recommendations xx
As someone who feels that All Fours was the best book of 2024, I’ll leave you to your opinion.
Haha I just…can’t. I tried so hard to love it!!!! I did!!!!
